§ Mr. Humeasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) what are the current provisions for the supply of electricity on Rathlin island; and whether he considers these to be satisfactory;
(2) what plans he has to link Rathlin island into the main electricity grid.
§ Mr. ButlerElectricity supply on Rathlin island is currently provided by a number of individual private generators. There is no public mains supply on the island. Because of the lack of satisfaction with existing arrangements I have sought the views of the Northern Ireland Electricity Service on the possibilities of providing a mains supply on the island, and these are currently under consideration.
