HC Deb 12 April 1984 vol 58 c351W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of undergraduate students in receipt of grants from education authorities in Scotland for university courses are attending universities in Scotland and what proportion are at universities outside Scotland.

Mr. Allan Stewart

In session 1982–83, the Scottish Education Department paid grants to some 30,800 students on full-time undergraduate courses at universities, of whom 93 per cent. were attending Scottish universities and 7 per cent. universities outside Scotland. Scottish education authorities do not normally support undergraduate students.
