Mr. John David Taylorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the increase in contribution by the United Kingdom to the EEC budget by raising the own resources value added tax ceiling to 1.4 per cent. and 2 per cent., respectively.
§ Mr. LawsonThe VAT own resources base for the 1984 budget produces a maximum contribution under the existing 1 per cent. VAT ceiling of some £1,690 million for the United Kingdom. If the own resources ceiling were 369W raised to 1.4 per cent. or 2 per cent., the limit on the United Kingdom's gross contribution would be increased by about £675 million and £1,690 million respectively.
