§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many jobs were expected to be created by an extension of Government aid to General Instruments of Glenrothes, Fife, announced in October 1982; and what progress has been made to date.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherDetails of projected employment arising from an application for selective assistance are commercially confidential. However, General Instruments completed its new wafer fabrication building last October and has now installed and brought on-stream the equipment for the first module in that building. Around 40 people are currently employed in that activity and this is expected to grow in line with increasing market demand for the products manufactured there.
