asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Home Office draft code relating to the treatment of persons in police custody has been published, and, if so, in what form, and, if not, whether it will be published.

The draft codes of practice on the treatment, questioning and identification of persons suspected of crime were published by the Home Office on 18th November 1982. Copies were sent to a wide range of bodies and were placed in the Library; and in a written reply on that date to a Question in another place my right honourable friend the Home Secretary announced that copies would be available on request from the Home Office.
