HC Deb 12 December 1983 vol 50 c335W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts what plans he has, in the event of the Greater London council abolition, for Marble Hill house and Rangers house, both owned by the Greater London council, and not referred to in the Government's proposals for the arts which accompanied the White Paper, "Streamlining the Cities."

Mr. Waldegrave

As the arts consultation paper makes clear, the Government envisage that those arts bodies and institutions hitherto funded by the GLC and which are not separately identified for proposed future central support arrangements should become the responsibility of the relevant borough council. Both Marble Hill house and Rangers house fall into that category.
