HL Deb 02 August 1982 vol 434 c670WA
Lord Marshall of Leeds

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether in view of the fact that the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has already declined in one instance, namely at Lockton High Moor, North Yorkshire, to offer grant aid for moorland reclamation under Section 11 of the Countryside Act 1968 it is now the Government's policy to allocate grant aid to reclaim open moorland in the North York Moors National Park which lies outside those areas marked as potentially reclaimable on the Ministry of Agriculture's "Review of the potentially reclaimable areas of open moorland" which was confirmed on 16th March 1981.

Earl Ferrers

It is our policy to require farmers in national parks to notify the relevant national park authority of any proposals to carry out work on which they want to claim grant and to consider each case on its merits and in the light of the response of the national park authority.
