HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 c497W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Lord Privy Seal if he will not recommend the appointment of a British ambassador to Chile; and if he will oppose the supply of arms from Great Britain to the Chilean armed forces.

Mr. Luce

The Government are giving careful consideration to this and other aspects of United Kingdom-Chile relations but final decisions have not yet been taken. We have no plans at present to end the ban on new arms sales to Chile.

Mr. Cook

asked the Lord Privy Seal if there has been any change in the policy of Her Majesty's Government on the granting of export licences for the sale of arms to Chile.

Mr. Luce

No.
