HC Deb 05 February 1979 vol 962 cc60-1W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many beds in Carlisle hospitals are at present not in use; and if he will give the equivalent figures for one and two years ago.

Mr. Moyle

On 2 February 115 beds were not in use because of nurse staffing shortages. On the same date in 1977 and 1978 the figures were 113 and 145 respectively.
