§ Mr. Ron Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in any future pay negotiations with the representatives of ambulance drivers, he will authorise of State for Social Services whether, in recognition of their obligation to provide a 24-hour emergency service.
§ Mr. DeakinsNational agreements provide for extra payments for shift rota cycles covering the 24-hour emergency service. Any improvements in these payments are a matter for negotiation by the ambulancemen's Whitley Council which currently has a claim for comprehensive improvements in pay and conditions under urgent consideration.
