HC Deb 02 April 1979 vol 965 cc511-2W
Mr. Kinnock

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received from the organisation known as "Parents for Optional Welsh"; and what answer he has sent.

Mr. Barry Jones

This organisation, following up earlier approaches, has asked my right hon. and learned Friend to exercise his powers under the Education Act 1944 to direct the Gwynedd local education authority to amend its policy on the Welsh language in schools. My right hon. and learned Friend is considering this request.
