asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the total number of people employed in Great Britain to the latest available date; and what was the comparable figure for 1st March 1974.

At March 1978, the latest date for which estimates are available, the number of employees in employment in Great Britain, seasonally adjusted, was 22,180,000 compared with 22,214,000 in March 1974.
