Mr. Brocklebank-Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in the light of the Government's recent decision to increase the funds available for construction purposes, he is able to announce an earlier commencement date for the building of the Terrington St. Clement, Clenchwarton and Walpole Cross Keys bypass on the A17.

The statutory procedures still remaining make it improbable that construction can begin before 1981 at the earliest, subject to the availability of funds at that time.
