HC Deb 14 November 1977 vol 939 c53W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he has any plans to alter the motor cycle driving test so that the examinee is never out of the sight of the examiner.

Mr. Horam

No. To do so would increase costs—and thus fees—very substantially without the likelihood of securing commensurate benefits to road safety.

Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he is satisfied that the requirements of the motor cycle driving test adequately establish the rider's ability.

Mr. Horam

Yes—within the limits of practicality.
