asked the Secretary of State for Wales what criteria he uses in determining whether the Farmers' Union of Wales should be recognised for negotiating purposes.

No specific criteria are laid down, but, in general our attitude will be governed by the need to ensure that in official negotiations and consultations the interests and views of producers are adequately represented.
