HC Deb 02 March 1976 vol 906 c587W
Mr. Cordle

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what is the total amount of unemployed male and female persons in the Bournemouth, East parliamentary constituency currently notified to his Department;

(2) what is the total number of job vacancies for male and female persons in the Bournemouth, East parliamentary constituency currently notified to his Department.

Mr. Harold Walker

At February 1976, 3,843 males and 1,086 females were recorded as unemployed in the area covered by the Bournemouth employment office.

There were 147 notified vacancies remaining unfilled at the employment office and 63 at the careers office. The figures are provisional. The vacancy figures relate only to vacancies notified to employment offices and careers offices and are not a measure of total vacancies. Also because of possible duplication these figures should not be added together. Following the introduction of the Sex Discrimination Act vacancies are not recorded separately for males and females.

Mr. Cordle

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the total number of school leavers in the Bournemouth employment office area who left school last summer and who remain as registered as unemployed.

Mr. Harold Walker

16 on 12th February 1976.
