HC Deb 02 March 1976 vol 906 cc586-7W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) if he is satisfied that the no increase rule is being followed by (a) company chairman, (b) company directors, (c) solicitors and (d) barristers already receiving in excess of £8,500 per annum;

(2) if he will institute a review of company chairmen and directors whose salaries are above £8,500 and who have received increases during the past year.

Mr. Booth

I know of no case where increases are being paid in breach of the £8,500 limit—which would of course attract the sanctions set out in paragraphs 20–24 of Cmnd. 6151—and I therefore see no call for a review.
