HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 cc527-8W
Mr. Rippon

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the service to the nation of the late Mr. Ernest Bevin, the Government will consider marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of his death, by making available a site for a statue to him within the precincts of the Houses of Parliament or in Parliament Square.

The Prime Minister

The question of providing a site in the House of Commons is, of course, a matter for this House. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment would, however, be very willing to discuss the appropriateness of a site in Parliament Square with the right hon. and learned Gentleman.
