HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 c527W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Lord Advocate what was the average length of time taken to bring a case of careless driving under the Road Traffic Acts to trial in the sheriff courts in Scotland, in each year from 1970 to 1975, from the date of the accident; and if he will make a statement.

The Lord Advocate

These statistics have not been specially recorded, but from inquiries which I have made it appears that in Glasgow the time interval has remained constant at approximately nine months. In Edinburgh it has increased from six months in 1970 to eight months in 1975. In other places the interval has been shorter.
