HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 c605W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will introduce legislation to prevent persons convicted of serious offences from becoming company directors within a period of five years of release and to prevent them from forming companies where the memorandum of association includes the use of events leading up to and including their criminal conviction.

Mr. Clinton Davis

I am considering the law on the disqualification of persons from acting as directors or taking part in the management of companies as part of my general review of company law and will take account of this suggestion. Under existing legislation, companies may be formed only for a lawful purpose.
