HC Deb 05 April 1976 vol 909 c73W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what provision is being made to safeguard United Kingdom students on courses and further education teacher employment in view of the fact that increased fees for foreign students will lead to a fall of 25 per cent. or more in overseas student applications for these courses.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

No special provision is expected to be required; the effect of increased fees on demand cannot be reliably quantified, and the figure of 25 per cent. or more seems to have no validity whatsoever.
