HC Deb 28 November 1974 vol 882 c258W
Mr. Crouch

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will issue a general direction to British Airways to review its systems for the prevention of hijacking of aircraft and, in particular, to consider the introduction of armed guards on board aircraft.

Mr. Shore

As my right hon. Friend the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs told the House on 25th November, I have called for an immediate review by my Department of the security measures of British airlines, particularly at overseas airports. This review will cover the need for measures for the armed protection of aircraft.
