§ Miss Fookesasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will refuse his permission for the scheme to export 200,000 live calves from Great Britain for eventual slaughter in the Middle East and Mediterranean Europe, devised under the guidance of the British Agricultural Export Council.
§ Mr. BishopThe granting of licences to export animals for immediate slaughter or for further fattening has been suspended and the House has been promised an opportunity to debate the matter before there is any change in policy.
§ Mr. Hoosonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is now in a position to make a report to the House on consultations with the EEC on the O'Brien Report on the Export of Live Animals; and whether he intends to change the present situation before the autumn.
§ Mr. BishopThese discussions are still in progress. The Government have already undertaken to give the House an opportunity to debate these matters before any change of policy is made.
