§ Dr. Winstanleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if she will list the capital projects for social services departments in the area of the Greater Manchester metropolitan county for which loan sanction has been granted for the current financial year;
(2) if she will list the capital projects for social services departments in the area of the Greater Manchester metropolitan county for which loan sanction has been refused for the current financial year.
§ Dr. OwenFinal approval of social services projects for loan sanction purposes is given during the course of the year, provided resources are available, as acceptable tenders are received for particular projects among those already provisionally approved and given, where the procedure so requires, approval in principle. The projects within Greater Manchester which were provisionally approved for 1974–75 were:
Wigan Metropolitan District: day nursery, hostel for the mentally ill, home for the elderly, fire precautions at various establishments.
Bolton Metropolitan District: day centre and home for the elderly.
Bury Metropolitan District: two homes for the elderly.
Rochdale Metropolitan District: home for the elderly.
Salford Metropolitan District: residential nursery community home, home for the mentally ill, hostel for mentally handicapped adults, adaptations to homes for the elderly.
Manchester Metropolitan District: day nursery, staff accommodation at a community home, day centre for the mentally ill, hostel for mentally handicapped adults.
Stockport Metropolitan District: children's observation and assessment centre, day centre and home for the elderly.
Tameside Metropolitan District: day nursery, day centre for the physically handicapped.
Projects within Greater Manchester proposed in October 1973 by the then socia services authorities for which my Department's capital allocation was insufficient to permit in 1974–75 were:
Wigan Metropolitan District: community home, two homes for the elderly.
Bolton Metropolitan District: two day nurseries, children's observation and assessment centre, hostel for adolescents, adult training centre, extensions to adult training centre and home for mentally handicapped 408W adults, home for mentally handicapped children, two day centres and homes for the elderly, home and social centre for the physically handicapped, adaptations and fire precautions at various establishments.
Bury Metropolitan District: community home, hostel for the mentally ill, adaptations and fire precautions at various establishments.
Rochdale Metropolitan District: three day nurseries, community home, adaptations to provide homeless families unit, two homes for the elderly, homeless, single persons' unit, adaptations and fire precautions at various establishments.
Salford Metropolitan District: day nursery, community home, staff houses at two community homes, adult training centre, two hostels for mentally handicapped adults, four homes for the elderly, adaptations and fire precautions at various establishments.
Manchester Metropolitan District: three community homes, adaptions at two community homes, home for mentally handicapped adults, two homes for mentally handicapped children, day centre for the elderly.
Oldham Metropolitan District: day nursery community home, day centre for the elderly, home for the elderly, social centre for the physically handicapped, adaptations and fire precautions at various establishments.
Trafford Metropolitan District: day nursery, community home, home for mentally handicapped children, home for the elderly, adaptations and fire precautions at various establishments.
Stockport Metropolitan District: two day nurseries, community home, home for mentally handicapped children, adult training centre, two homes for mentally handicapped adults, day centre for the elderly home for the elderly.
Tameside Metropolitan District: two day nurseries, two community homes, mother and baby home, home for mentally handicapped adults, four homes for the elderly, social centre for the physically handicapped adaptations and fire precautions in various establishments.
