asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps she contemplates taking to ensure that local authorities comply with the recent circular on homelessness as regards to the provision of accommodation for pregnant women, in view of the fact that a

1973, and the number per thousand insured population at risk in the areas specified:

(c) Wales and (d) the eight English regions, respectively.

The following table gives the information which I think the hon. Member has in mind, so far as it is available:

number of authorities refuse council accommodation on the ground that such women are not homeless until they have had their babies.

I am concerned at the suggestion that this practice may be adopted by some authorities. If my hon. Friend has any particular cases in mind I will gladly look into them.
