HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 cc244-5W
42. Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science in what year the present Fitzwilliam Junior Mixed School, at Swinton, Mexborough was built; why the building of a new replacement school has not yet been authorised; and if he will now give a firm date during 1975 for the building of the new school.

Mr. Armstrong

The school was built in 1853. A replacement project was included in the 1973–74 preliminary list of projects expected to start in 1975–76. It is not possible at present to give a firm date for the start of the project, this will depend on the priority attached to the project by the local education authority and the resources which can be made available nationally for primary school replacements.
