asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the most recent figures of general practitioners per head of population in the Trent region; and how these compare as an absolute number of doctors per 250,000 population or average health district.

Based on the 1973 population, the number of unrestricted principals in general medical practice at 1st April 1974 was:

England 108 per 250,000 population
Trent RHA 100 per 250,000 population
