HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 c396W
Mr. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the percentage of disabled staff, both full and part-time, employed in the Department of Health and Social Security.

Mr. Alfred Morris

While the Department is not bound by the terms of the Disabled Persons Employment Act, it endeavours as far as possible to follow its provisions.

The number of registered disabled persons employed by the Department of Health and Social Security on 1st October 1973 was 1,861 full-time and 14 part-time which represents approximately 2.35 per cent. of the total staff employed in Great Britain. This compares with 2.47 per cent. throughout the Civil Service and 2.05 per cent. in other establishments.
