§ Mr. David Steelasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, as a matter of urgency, she will now consider raising the family allowance and extending it to the first child.
§ Mrs. CastleWork is proceeding urgently on a scheme of family endowment, which will include the first or only child, to replace the existing family allowances scheme. I shall make an announcement on these matters as soon as I can.
