HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 cc67-8W
Mr. Tierney

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what applications for consents for school building have been made to him by the Birmingham City Council in respect of the Yardley constituency area.

Mr. Armstrong

The Birmingham Local Education Authority has submitted one project in the Yardley area for inclusion in the authority's major building programme for 1976–77. This is a replacement project to provide the first instalment of a new comprehensive school.

Mr. George Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details of the major capital programme for schools in the Northumberland County Council area for 1974–75 and 1975–76.

Mr. Armstrong

The Northumberland Local Education Authority has recently been allocated a lump sum authorisation of £1,015,000 for major school building projects to be started between 1st July 1974 and 30th June 1975 and has been asked to inform the Department which basic need projects it proposes to start. Resources have not yet been allocated for 1975–76.
