§ 47. Mr. Hastings
asked the Attorney-General whether he is satisfied that the administration of justice is carried out with sufficient dispatch; and what is his policy with regard to making proposals for changes in this regard.
I am satisfied that, within the limits of available resources, every effort is being made to ensure that the administration of justice does not suffer from any avoidable delays. There has been a substantial improvement since the Courts Act came into operation, particularly outside London. The position in London has improved and is likely to improve still further as courts recently opened and due for opening later this year come into operation. If there are any particular facets of the subject which the hon. Member would like to draw to my attention, or any specific proposals he would like to put to me, I am very ready to consider them.
