HC Deb 10 July 1974 vol 876 c520W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals he has to increase the rate of construction work in the north-east of Scotland.

Mr. Millan

My officials work closely with the authorities concerned with the provision of public services. Because the availability of skilled tradesmen is the main constraint my right hon. Friend is encouraging local authorities to employ non-traditional construction methods which reduce labour demands, and the number of places for training in construction skills in Scotland has been greatly increased.
