HC Deb 03 December 1974 vol 882 cc429-30W
Mr. Normanton

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he is yet in a position to make a statement regarding proposals for payment of compensation to British citizens and to British serving personnel for loss of personal property suffered by them and their families in Cyprus.

Mr. Ennals

Her Majesty's Government have reserved the right of British subjects to claim compensation from the appropriate authority for damage and loss. Urgent consideration is being given to the establishment of channels through which these claims can be submitted and a senior official of the FCO has very recently been on the island for this purpose.
