asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make proposals designed to ensure that pensioners who have supplemented their income by raising loans on their homes to enable them to buy annuities are not financially disadvantaged.

Under the provisions of the Finance Bill, the interest payable on such loans will continue to attract tax relief on the present basis for a further six years.
