HC Deb 09 April 1974 vol 872 c113W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proportion of the recent increase, published in the Civil Estimates 1974–75 on 26th March, of £1.447 million in the annual grant for the general purposes of the Arts Council is estimated by him to allow for the effects of inflation; and what proportion represents an increase of that annual grant in real terms.

Mr. Hugh Jenkins

Provision for the effects of inflation is made in the council's recurrent grant. The increase in the recurrent grant is £2.167 million of which £1.741 million relates to inflation. The increase in real terms is approximately 3 per cent.
