§ 40. Mr. Ormeasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how much money was recovered in June under the Payment of Debt (Emergency Provisions) Act, 1971; and when he now expects recovery to be completed.
§ Mr. ChannonThe latest figures available, for the four weeks up to the end of May, show that a weekly amount of approximately £35,000–£38,000 was recovered from social security benefits under the Payments for Debt (Emergency Provisions) Act (Northern Ireland), 1971, and paid to the housing authorities. It is not possible to make a meaningful estimate of the period that will be required for all the arrears to be recovered.
