Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department to what extent his regulatons affect the entry into Great Britain of overseas persons for daily shopping visits; whether registration has to take place; and whether he will give for the latest and most convenient longest stated period the number of persons visiting the Channel ports from Belgium, France, and other countries of the European Economic Community for this purpose.

Alien visitors are admitted in accordance with the immigration rules (paragraphs 11–15 of Cmnd. 4296 (Aliens: Instructions to Immigration Officers)). They are not required to register with the police. Separate statistics of shoppers are not kept.
