§ Mr. Brooksasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will give the number of immigrant education liaison officers who are employed by local education authorities; and in which areas they are employed.
§ Miss Lestor:I do not collect these figures, but I know that an increasing number of authorities employ staff to advise immigrant families and bring them into closer contact with the schools. This need not always be whole-time work, and valuable contributions are made by teachers, voluntary counsellors and others.
