HC Deb 07 May 1970 vol 801 cc168-9W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the average size of sixth form science and mathematics groups; and how many of these groups are of less than 10 pupils.

Miss Bacon:

The latest available information is that produced by a survey in 1965–66 when the average size of groups studying science or mathematics in the sixth or later years of their course was 9.3 pupils. 61.8 per cent, of these groups contained not more than 10 pupils.
