54. Mr. Simon Mahon

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the danger of heavy goods vehicles being left unmanned in built-up areas, and of the possible consequential hazards that may occur to the residents of such areas, particularly schoolchildren; and if he will take steps to prohibit such parking in these areas.

This is primarily a matter for local authorities, who have ample powers to impose waiting restrictions, in the interests of safety, on vehicular traffic generally or on traffic of a specified class.
