§ Dr. Winstanleyasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the average age of the members of the rating tribunals, local valuation courts; what are the ages of the youngest and oldest members of the courts; and what provision exists for the removal of members from these courts on the grounds of age or incapacity.
§ Mr. FreesonThe members of local valuation courts are appointed by local authorities and I have no information about their ages. Since 1966 all new schemes for the constitution of local valuation panels, from whose members a valuation court is constituted, have been required to include a provision for an upper age limit of 72 years.
All schemes contain a provision which enables the Minister or the appointing local authorities to remove a member from office.
