§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what amount has been paid to consultants in the Western Regional Hospital Board area for post-graduate lectures in the last financial year.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellThis information is not available centrally but I am inquiring of the hospital authority concerned to see if it can be provided. I will write to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many part-time consultants transferred to full-time service in the years 1967 to 1969; and if he will state the age of the consultants at the date of transfer.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellThe information requested is set out in the following table:
CONSULTANTS TRANSFERRING TO FULL-TIME SERVICE Year Number Ages at date of transfer 1967 5 43, 56, 57, 60, 61. 1968 12 39, 43, 45, 51, 52, 53 (2), 54, 56, 58, 60, 62. 1969 8 43, 52 (2), 54, 58 (2), 59, 63.
§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many new consultants were appointed in 1969; how many of them opted for part-time appointments; and what was the total sessional loss involved in the part-time appointments.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellDuring 1969, a total of 77 new consultants were appointed. Of this number, 10 opted for part-time appointment. It is not possible to calculate sessional loss because doctors who opt for maximum part-time terms are required to give substantially the whole of their time to the post.
