HC Deb 03 December 1970 vol 807 c440W
Mr. Whitehead

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the chief constable as to why no answer has been forthcoming to repeated inquiries by the hon. Member for Derby, North, of the Derbyshire Constabulary concerning investigations into the marriage of Mrs. G. Shankar of 18, Vale Street, Derby, and the impounding of her husband's passport.

Mr. Sharples

The police have been unable to trace Mr. Shankar, whose permitted stay in this country expired in August, 1969. I am writing to the hon. Member about the circumstances.
