§ Mr. CarlisleNo. A person convicted of murder must be sentenced to imprisonment440W for life. There is, therefore, no legal limit to the time for which he may be detained in prison. Subject to Parliament's decision last year to make permanent the abolition of capital punishment, the penalty for murder is among the matters for consideration by the Criminal Law Revision Committee in its current review of the law relating to offences against tile person, including homicide.
