HC Deb 30 April 1970 vol 800 cc370-1W
49. Sir F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she is satisfied with the operation of the solemn and binding undertaking given by the Trades Union Congress last June in regard to the curtailment of unofficial strikes; and if she will make a statement.

50. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will make a statement on the working of the solemn and binding agreement on industrial relations made with the Trades Union Congress in June 1969.

Mrs. Castle:

The Government welcome the T.U.C.'s vigorous efforts, in co-operation with the unions concerned, to give effect to the policies of positive intervention in serious unconstitutional and inter-union disputes which were the basis of the undertaking given by the T.U.C. last June. I am confident that these efforts have averted and curtailed many strikes.
