HC Deb 30 April 1970 vol 800 c370W
48. Mr. Scott-Hopkins

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what action she is taking, following the announced decision of Electro Plating Services Limited to close its factory in Bakewell, Derbyshire, which will result in 250 unemployed on 1st July. 1970; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Dell:

If the hon. Member is referring to the closure of the Bakewell factory of Electric Power Storage Ltd., a team of my officers has visited the factory to interview those seeking advice or help in finding alternative employment. My officers are also making special approaches to employers likely to be interested in the labour becoming available, and three have already arranged to visit the factory to interview applicants.
