HC Deb 30 April 1970 vol 800 c371W
51. Mr. Hugh Jenkins

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many accidents have taken place arising from faulty connections in the plugs of amplifying equipment within the last three years: how many of these have resulted in the deaths of performers; and if she will introduce health, welfare and safety legislation to cover all places where professional performances take place.

Mr. Harold Walker:

As regards the first part of the Question, the information is not available. As regards the second part, in the last three years two fatalities have been reported by area electricity boards in accordance with the requirements of the current electricity supply legislation. On the last part, it would be inappropriate to make extensions to the scope of existing safety, health and welfare legislation until the Government have considered the results of the inquiry which my right hon. Friend announced on 2nd March.
