Mr. Boston

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will make a further statement about the membership of the Board of the Post Office Corporation.

Mr. Stonehouse

After consultation with the Chairman Designate I have invited the following to be full-time Members of the Board, and they have accepted:

  • Mr. Geoffrey Vieler—Managing Director (Posts and Giro).
  • Professor J. H. H. Merriman—Member for Technology.
  • Sir Richard Hayward—Member for Industrial Relations.
  • Mr. F. J. M. Laver—Member for National Data Processing Service.

Professor Merriman and Mr. Laver will take up their appointments at once. Mr. Vieler's and Sir Richard Hayward's appointments will take effect at an early date. Salaries will be in accordance with the standard applicable to members of major national industries' boards; that is, within the range £7,700 to £10,450 per annum.
