HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 c553W
Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Presimaster-General whether he is aware that the 4d. postal service takes four days to get from Shrewsbury to London; and what steps he is now taking to improve the speed and reliability of the two-tier postal system.

Mr. Stonehouse

4d. letters posted in Shrewsbury should be delivered in London by the second working day after posting. I have received no recent complaint about this service, but if the hon. Member has evidence of delay and will let me have details I will gladly look into the matter. The new letter service is working well, and we shall keep it under continuous review to safeguard its speed and reliability.
