asked the Postmaster-General if he will make a statement on the anniversary commemorative stamps to be issued in 1970.

The dates of issue, numbers and values of special stamps in 1970 are:

British Architecture—Wednesday, 11th February:

The stamps will illustrate vernacular styles used for domestic buildings in Britain:

Block of four different 5d. stamps.

One stamp at 9d.

One stamp at 1s.

General Anniversaries—Wednesday, 1st April:

  1. (i) 650th Anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath, 5d.
  2. (ii) 150th Anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, 9d.
  3. (iii) 75th Anniversary of the International Co-operative Alliance, 1s.
  4. (iv) 350th Anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower, 1s. 6d.
  5. 150th Anniversary of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1s. 9d.

Literary Anniversaries—Wednesday, 3rd June:

  1. Centenary of the death of Charles Dickens. Block of four different 5d. stamps.
  2. Bi-centenary of the birth of William Wordsworth. One stamp at 1s. 6d.

IXth British Commonwealth Games, Edinburgh—Wednesday, 15th July: 5d. 1s. 6d., 1s. 9d.

Philympia, International Philatelic Exhibition, London—Friday, 18th September: 5d., 9d., 1s. 6d.

Christmas—Issue date to be announced later: 4d., 5d., 1s. 6d.
